Its no secret that the New York Giants need some work this offseason, and this all starts with re-structuring Odell Beckham Jr. Sure, this team needs to draft a quarterback with the no. 2 overall pick in the draft, and sure this team needs to clear up space, but the most important part of this team is 1-3.

Odell is going into this season playing on a 5th-year rookie option and has expressed his desire to become the highest paid player in the NFL, so I believe Dave Gettleman should oblige. Beckham has been the driving force of this football team since he was drafted in 2013, and this team just isn’t the same without their dynamic wideout.

Although the former LSU product has been an absolute icon while on the football field, he has been even more so off of it. His brand and likeness has made him the poster boy for the NFL, with children of all ages attempting to re-create “the catch.” This type of universal popularity generates massive revenue for the Giants franchise from the purchasing of tickets and jerseys to support their favorite player.

This type of universal likability should cause our star-studded wide receiver to be the highest paid player in the sport. Locking him up long term ensures the Giants will have their star for a very long time.
