What Went Right: The defense was great yet again. Cornerback Janoris Jenkins recorded his second pick six of the season. Redskins quarterback Kirk Cousins threw a pass to his running back that was a little too high and the running back deflected the ball just like a volleyball player would to set up a teammate and Jenkins was able to intercept it and return it for a touchdown. Safety Landon Collins had another unbelievable game. He recorded 14 tackles and didn’t allow any completions when he was targeted. In the past two weeks, Collins has looked like a defensive player of the year candidate. Defensive ends Olivier Vernon and Jason Pierre-Paul had monster games combining for three and a half sacks. Jason Pierre-Paul took advantage of backup tackles recording five tackles and two sacks. Olivier Vernon recorded five tackles and a sack and a half. This was a breakout game for the two ends as they were in the backfield consistently getting after runners and the quarterback.

What Went Wrong: The Giants offense was pathetic. The Giants finished with 170 total yards. That is something a high school team gets in one half. The Giants averaged 3.1 yards per play on Thursday night. The play calling is still awful. For example, the Giants ran the ball on second and ten and gained nine yards. Then on third and one the Giants decided to go into shotgun and throw a pass when the running game was clearly working. It is calls like this that show why the Giants are 2-9. The Giants have a lot of injuries but that is no excuse to put up 170 yards in a game, especially in primetime on Thanksgiving night. Tight end Evan Engram had a few costly drops.  He is a great rookie with great hands but has dropped the ball too many times in the past few weeks.

Changes need to be made. The Giants have a very talented team that is being wasted due to bad coaching. Hopefully the Mara family and the Tisch family make the right decision.
