WFAN's Boomer Esiason details 'somber' conversation after Craig Carton's arrest

The silence has been broken.

During an interview on The Sports Hub in Boston, WFAN’s Boomer Esiason revealed that he and co-host Craig Carton finally spoke after the popular radio host was arrested last week on fraud charges.

Esiason told Toucher & Rich that he and Carton spoke on Saturday for a few minutes.

“It was a very somber call; I was more interested about his family,” Esiason said. “You can imagine how that must be. If you guys have worked with anybody who has had problems in their life, you want the best for them; want to love them and their family, give them hope and support. But under the current circumstances there is only so much support I can give and a lot of it can’t be public. All I can do is tell him I love him dearly, I’m pulling for him and privately I’ll try to help him the best I can.”

Esiason believes Carton will stage a fight to clear his name–in both the public and legal spectrums.

“He has been basically ridiculed and scorned, people are attacking him left and right,” Esiason said. “That’s the minefield that goes with being a shock jock in the morning. It’s sad, but according to all accounts and I think it started last week, he’s going to fight as hard as he can.”

Carton’s mess

The “Boomer and Carton” show on WFAN is ongoing despite Carton’s absence and suspension from CBS. For now, fill-in hosts are joining Esiason on a daily basis.
