Giants offensive coordinator Mike Sullivan typically doesn’t reveal much during his regular press conferences. But mixed in with the typical serving of platitudes and cliches, Sullivan delivered a simple yet telling comment on Friday that will echo all season.

“We know we’re going to go as far as our offensive line goes,” Sullivan said.

IT STARTS UP FRONT

All of the weapons the Giants have on offense won’t mean anything if the offensive line isn’t able to open holes in the running game and protect the quarterback. Sullivan conceded that undeniable fact and said he’s confident the line will do its part this season.

“We know we’re going to go as far as our offensive line goes,” Sullivan said. “There has been improvement and as I said earlier, we are not where we want to be, but we have shown some progress and we are excited about taking that next step.”

FLOWERS BLOOMING?

The Giants have been relentless in their advocacy of Ereck Flowers since the spring and Friday was Sullivan’s turn to pump up the embattled left tackle. Sullivan pointed out a play in last week’s preseason opener as evidence of Flowers’ development (above).
